Dr. Danielle Johnson
I was an avid speech and debater in high school. I competed in Extemp, DI, Policy, Oratory and LD most often, however I tried Congress, Poetry, Prose, and Duet/Duo as well. If I had to pick, I would probably tell you oratory was my favorite and where I found the most success. My blog is my current attempt to relive my oratory days. You can find it here. I returned to the debate world after a 20 year hiatus in which I greatly enjoyed teaching middle school and college while earning a PhD in literacy with an emphasis in communication. I am here to reclaim my pride after only earning 966 points in my three years of competition when I wanted to hit 1K so badly and for missing my ticket to nationals by something called judges preferences. I will now live vicariously through your successes which I hope to play a small role in. Let me know how I can support you!

Ms. Jacque Arnold
I am a recent returner to the CPS Speech and Debate scene. In my high school career (go Kewpies!) I primarily focused on IEs, Taking home district medals in HI, Prose, and Storytelling. My junior year I dabbled in Policy and PUFF, before finishing off the season back in IEs, taking home a medal in One Act Plays. I also was part of over 16 Kewpie theatre productions where I honed my skills in working with texts to really make them standout on stage. I then went to Truman State University where I majored in Theatre and English, with a minor in Education. While getting my final degrees, I taught Writing as Critical Thinking, a college composition class that focused on rhetoric and argumentative writing. I then did my student teaching in Macon High School, where I helped their theatre department branch out and begin their Speech and Debate class. Two Master's degrees later, I am so glad to return to my Columbia family. The Bruins have my loyalty now, and together, I know we can go far and achieve greatness. I am looking forward to helping you grow as thinkers and performers!
